Why do we use Honey in our Natural Skin Care Products?

Since ancient times, honey has been considered an Elixir of health.  Ancient Hindus regarded honey to have not only a medicinal or strengthening properties but also an ability to preserve youth.  Hippocrates, the ancient Greek physician who is often referred to as the Father of Medicine contributed his long life in part to consuming honey on a regular basis and he even prescribed it to his patients for a variety of ailments!

Since then, there has been countless research into the benefits of Honey and decades ago we started to experiment with the use of this golden elixir in our natural products, first of all starting with our Gardener's Honey Hand Cream, which soon became known as our "Famous" Gardener's Honey Hand Cream and renowned at events all over the UK.  Many other products have followed containing honey but our "magic green hand cream" has stood the test of time and remains one of our best selling products.

What Properties does Honey in Skin Care have?

With its antibacterial, antiseptic and antiviral properties it is perfect for use in our Hand Creams. It helps sooth chapped and dry hands, and works great if you have small cuts on your hands and fingers.

Honey contains natural hydrogen peroxide which accounts for some of its properties and it also has a high sugar content, which can help stop the growth of certain bacteria.  With a low pH level honey helps to to pull moisture away from the bacteria, causing the bacteria dehydrate and die off.

When we incorporate honey into our top secret recipes it helps to heal and hydrate your hands, leaving them feeling smooth, moisturised and nourished.  All of our hand creams are non greasy and absorb quickly giving you an almost instant benefit that is long lasting.
